Geely Coolray is a front-wheel drive five-door SUV of a subcompact class, embodying an attractive design, modern technical component and a good level of equipment ... Its main target audience is the advanced residents of large cities professing an active lifestyle, who occasionally, but still leave the boundaries of asphalt roads ...
For the first time in front of the world community, this five-door (under the native name-index SX11) appeared at the end of August 2018 - at the stands of the International Moscow Motor Show, although information about it appeared on the Web at the beginning of the year.
This is the first Geely car built on the new BMA (B-segment Modular Architecture) global bogie, which was developed by Chinese specialists in collaboration with Volvo Cars' engineers.
Exterior
Outside Geely SX11 Coolray is decorated in the "family" style of the brand from the Middle Kingdom - it attracts attention with a beautiful, proportional, youthful and energetic appearance. At the front, the crossover flaunts a frowning look of lighting technology, a stylish radiator grille and a powerful bumper with a developed "lip", and at the rear it boasts graceful lanterns connected by a chrome bar, a developed "plastic" of the trunk door and two "curly" exhaust nozzles.
The profile of the five-door forms a coupe-like silhouette with a "floating" roof, embossed protrusions on the sidewalls, a sill line that rises smoothly to the stern and large wheel arches, which makes it dynamic even under static conditions.
In terms of its dimensions, Geely Coolray belongs to the class of subcompact crossovers: its length extends to 4330 mm, its width reaches 1800 mm, and its height is 1609 mm. The distance between the wheelsets is 2600 mm for the car, and its ground clearance reaches 190 mm.
Interior
Inside the subcompact crossover there is a sports-off-road spirit - a relief multi-steering wheel with a rim cut at the bottom, a fully digital instrument cluster with decent graphics and a stylish center console with a free-standing "tablet" of a multimedia complex, asymmetric ventilation deflectors and a laconic air conditioning unit.
In addition to this, the car's interior is capable of boasting solid ergonomics, a good level of assembly and high-quality finishing materials (nice plastics, aluminum, artificial leather, etc.).
According to the passport, Coolray has a five-seater salon. The front riders are assigned to sporty profiled seats with bright side support rollers, moderately dense filling and wide adjustment intervals. On the second row there is a welcoming sofa and ample space for three adult passengers.
The trunk of a Chinese SUV has a comfortable shape and can hold 425 liters of luggage in normal condition. "Gallery" is compared to the floor in two unequal sections, which significantly increases the volume of the cargo compartment. In the underground niche there is a spare wheel and the necessary set of tools.
Specifications
The Geely SX11 is driven by a three-cylinder petrol engine with a working volume of 1.5 liters with a vertical layout, a turbocharger, a direct injection system, a 12-valve timing structure and variable valve timing, in Russian specifications generating 150 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 255 Nm of torque at 1500-4000 rpm.
It mates exclusively with a 7-band "robot" with a pair of "wet" clutches, which directs all the potential to the wheels of the front axle.
It is worth noting that in China the car is offered with the same engine, but developing either 136 hp or 177 hp, as well as with two gearboxes - a 6-speed "mechanics" and a 7-speed "robot" ... In addition, you can buy a plug-in hybrid crossover there, producing a total of 258 hp.
From a standstill to 100 km / h, the five-door “fires” after 8.4 seconds, accelerates to a maximum of 196 km / h, and in the combined cycle, on average, “digests” 7.4 liters of fuel for every “hundred” of run.
Design features
At the heart of the Geely SX11 Coolray is a BMA (B-segment Modular Architecture) modular platform with a transversely oriented power plant and a monocoque body, which consists of 70% of high-strength steel grades.
On the front axle of the crossover, an independent suspension of the MacPherson type is involved, and on the rear there is a semi-independent architecture with a torsion beam ("in a circle" - with anti-roll bars).
The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering complex with an integrated electric power steering. All wheels of the SUV are equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front), supplemented by ABS, EBD and other modern "gadgets".
Options and prices
On the Russian market, Geely Coolray can be purchased in three trim levels to choose from - Luxury, Flagship and Flagship Sport (and in the future, the simplest Comfort version will also appear).
- For the performance of Luxury, dealers ask for a minimum of 1,290,000 rubles, and the list of its equipment includes: four airbags, 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic roof with a sliding section, climate control, a media center with a 10.25-inch screen, heated front and rear seats , four power windows, keyless access to the salon, LED optics, an audio system with six speakers, ABS, ESP and other modern "chips".
- The Flagship configuration costs from 1,450,000 rubles, and its features include: safety curtains, engine start with a button, a car parker, "leather" seat upholstery, a virtual instrument cluster, monitoring of blind spots and some other options.
- The "top" version of the Flagship Sport will cost from 1,500,000 rubles, and it can boast of the appropriate Sport-decor, black roof paint and a large spoiler on the fifth door.
