The BMW M5 is a "charged" all-wheel drive premium business-class sedan (aka the "E" segment according to the European classification), created by the efforts of the specialists of the sports division of the Bavarian brand "Motorsport GmbH" ... It is well suited for the role of a "family car" or "business car" partner ", however, if necessary, is able to transform into a real" racing car "...

The sixth "release" of the three-volume with the in-plant index "F90" was declassified on August 22, 2017 (as part of an online presentation), in September (in Frankfurt) its official debut took place ... and already in November, Russian dealers began accepting orders for it.

It should be noted right away that this sports sedan made a real revolution - for the first time in its "career" (and indeed among the "eMok" cars) it became all-wheel drive. In addition, as a result of the next generational change, it enlarged in size, received an increase in power and replenished its "armament" with a mass of modern equipment ... but first things first:

Outside, the sixth generation BMW M5 looks beautiful, energetic and truly thoroughbred, and aggressive bumpers, more "muscular" fenders, large air intakes, a quartet of exhaust pipes and "rollers" measuring 19 or 20 inches do not allow it to be confused with the usual "fives" - in general, a traditional set for M-cars.

In length, the "eMka" with the in-plant marking "F90" extends to 4965 mm, reaches 1473 mm in height, and does not exceed 1903 mm in width. The distance between the pairs of wheels of the car is 2982 mm, its ground clearance is 132 mm, and the size of the front and rear track is 1626 mm and 1595 mm, respectively. In the "stowed" form, the four-door weighs 1930 kg.

Inside, the “charged” essence of the sixth generation BMW M5 is given by the multifunctional M-steering wheel with embossed outlines and two red “spots” of the M1 and M2 keys, a stylish “automatic” selector and sports front seats with pronounced sidewalls, dense padding and a set of electric adjustments.

For a surcharge, the car relies on even more "tenacious" seats with full electrification (including adjustments for lateral support rollers and backrest tilt).

Otherwise, it is the same business sedan as the standard "five", on the back sofa of which even three adult passengers can sit down with a high level of comfort.

He also has no problems with practicality - the trunk of the three-volume in the standard form "eats" up to 530 liters of luggage.

Under the hood of the BMW M5 F90 there is a 4.4-liter V-shaped petrol V-8 with direct fuel injection, a 32-valve timing belt, a reinforced crankshaft and a connecting rod-piston mechanism, two Twin Scroll turbochargers and an exhaust manifold inscribed in the camber of the cylinder block. It generates 600 horsepower at 5600-6700 rpm and 750 Nm of torque at 1800-5600 rpm.

The "charged" three-box is equipped with an 8-speed "automatic" and all-wheel drive technology "M xDrive". By default, the entire traction reserve is supplied to the rear axle, and power is supplied to the front wheels, if necessary, through a multi-plate clutch (in addition, there is an active cross-axle differential at the rear, allowing up to 100% of the torque to be directed to one of the wheels).
The vehicle's transmission has five different configurations with a choice of three potential distribution options (4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD) and a similar number of stabilization system algorithms (MDM, DSC and DSC off).

From zero to 100 km / h, the BMW M5 of the sixth incarnation "catapults" after 3.4 seconds, and exchanges the third "hundred" after 11.1 seconds. The maximum four-door can reach 250 km / h (however, for a fee, the "electronic collar" can be moved up to 305 km / h).

The passport fuel consumption of a sports sedan does not exceed 10.5 liters per 100 km in mixed mode.

At the heart of this "eMka" is the modular architecture CLAR with independent suspensions "in a circle": a two-link system is installed in front, and a five-link system at the back (in the "base" - with adaptive shock absorbers endowed with three modes of operation). It differs from the standard "brother" by revised suspension kinematics, stiffer rubber joints and thickened anti-roll bars.
The body of the car is cut from high-strength grades of steel, the front fenders, doors, hood and luggage cover are made of aluminum, and the roof is made of carbon fiber.

The "charged" four-door boasts an adaptive electromechanical power steering integrated into a variable pitch rack and pinion. All wheels of the "German" are equipped with ventilated disc brakes (made of cast iron with aluminum hubs): six-piston calipers with a fixed caliper are used on the front axle, and single-piston calipers with a floating caliper in the rear. Carbon ceramic brakes are available as an option.

In the Russian market, the BMW M5 with the F90 index is offered at a price of 6,700,000 rubles - this is how much they ask for a basic sedan, which is equipped with: six airbags, 19-inch wheels, a multimedia system, premium "music", leather trim, dual-zone "Climate", heated and electrically adjustable front seats, fully LED optics, ESP, ABS, EBD and a huge number of other "goodies".

For a car in the performance of "M Special" you will have to pay at least 7,800,000 rubles, and its features are: four-zone climate control, 20-inch "rollers" with double spokes, wireless phone charging function, interactive BMW Display Key, assistance system when parking, high-end audio system Harman Kardon Surround Sound and other options.

In addition, the car is provided in a special version of the "First Edition" (its circulation is limited to 20 copies), which costs from 8,990,000 rubles. This four-door is painted in a unique shade of "Frosty Crimson Metallic" and has almost every possible equipment.
