The Geely MK 08 (or MK2) sedan, which appeared on our market only in the fall of 2013 (it was introduced in China back in 2008), although it is positioned by dealers as an independent model, is essentially a restyling of the well-known MK sedan. quite successfully (for Chinese cars) sold in the Russian open spaces. The novelty is a little more expensive than its predecessor, but due to changes in the exterior and interior, it is regarded as a more modern car, which, although it is in the budget segment, tries to correspond to a higher class.
Externally, the sedan Geely MK08 is quite similar to the "old man MK". Both cars have the same body contours, but the novelty received a prettier grille, updated optics and other bumpers, which gave the Geely MK2 (08) appearance a little extra freshness and solidity.
In terms of dimensions, the Geely MK08 is no different from the pre-styling version of the sedan: the body length is 4342 mm, the width is 1692 mm, and the height is 1435 mm. The sedan has a wheelbase of 2502 mm and a ground clearance of 150 mm. The front and rear track widths are, respectively, 1450 and 1431 mm. The curb weight of the vehicle does not exceed 1160 kg. The machine is available in six color options, with the most popular being black, gray, silver and white.
The interior of the five-seater Geely MK2 08, in contrast to its predecessor, received slightly higher-quality finishing materials, improved door panels and a new front panel, which, above all, differs in the shape of the air ducts on the center console, which have become rectangular. In addition, the Chinese developers have offered the buyers of "MK2" a new steering wheel with a very original, but very controversial shape. The rest of the interior of this car is similar to its predecessor, so it makes no sense to dwell on its description in detail. We only note that the trunk of the sedan is able to accommodate up to 430 liters of cargo.
Specifications. There are no global changes under the hood of the Geely MK2-08. The sedan inherited the only engine available, assembled under license from the Japanese automaker Toyota. This means that the new product is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol power unit with four in-line cylinders, a distributed fuel injection system, a 16-valve timing belt and a maximum power of 94 hp. at 6000 rpm. The engine's torque peaks at around 128 Nm at 3400 rpm. This allows the motor to accelerate the Geely MK 08 sedan from 0 to 100 km / h in an average of 18.0 seconds or accelerate to a maximum speed of 165 km / h.
As for fuel consumption, in urban traffic jams, the sedan eats about 7.8 liters of AI-92 gasoline, on the highway it fits into 6.3 liters, and in mixed mode it costs 6.8 liters of fuel.
At the moment Geely MK2-08 is equipped with only one type of gearbox - 5-speed "mechanics". Judging by the available photos, the Chinese are preparing a version with an automatic transmission, but so far its prospects are vague, especially since there is no information about plans to enter the Russian market.
Geely MK08 is built on the basis of the same platform as the MK sedan, in which only some of the suspension elements were replaced and the necessary readjustments were made. In general, the sedan inherited the suspension of its predecessor: MacPherson struts at the front and a semi-independent spring structure at the rear. Disc brakes are used on the front wheels, on the rear, the Chinese limited themselves to drum brakes. The rack and pinion steering mechanism is complemented by a power steering.
Options and prices. In 2014, the sedan Geely MK2 (08) is offered in Russia in two trim levels: "Base" and "Comfort". In the database, the novelty receives front foglights, heated and electric side mirrors, power windows for all doors, leather steering wheel, air conditioning, fabric interior, heated front seats, tilt-adjustable steering column, alarm, front airbags, ABS and EBD systems, audio preparation for 2 speaker and 15-inch steel wheels. In the top-end equipment, the sedan additionally receives a CD audio system with 6 speakers, rear parking sensors and alloy wheels.
The cost of Geely MK2 (08) in the Base configuration is 357,000 rubles, for the Comfort version you will have to pay at least 373,000 rubles.
