The third generation compact pickup Mitsubishi L200 officially debuted in 1996, having changed in comparison with its predecessor in all respects. In 2001, the car underwent a fairly noticeable restyling, having received changes in the exterior and interior decoration, after which it was assembled until 2005, although in Brazil its production did not stop until 2012.

The "third" Mitsubishi L200 was available with a single two-door or double four-door cab, and was classified as a compact class pickup truck.

Regardless of the modification, the length of the car was 4995 mm, the width did not exceed 1625 mm, and the wheelbase was 2950 mm, but the height varied from 1585 to 1710 mm. In the stowed state, the Japanese "truck" weighed from 1295 to 1700 kg.

Specifications. For the 3rd generation pickup, both gasoline and diesel power units were offered.

  • The first included in-line four-cylinder engines with a volume of 2.0-2.5 liters, the return of which totaled from 95 to 145 horsepower, and a V-shaped six-cylinder 3.0-liter engine with a capacity of 180 "horses" and a potential of 255 Nm of torque.
  • The car was also equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel version, generating from 100 or 115 forces and 240 Nm of peak torque in both cases.

There are two gearboxes - 5-speed "mechanics" or 4-band "automatic", the same number of drive types - rear or full part-time type.

"L200" of the 3rd generation is a pickup truck with a frame body structure, which had an independent double wishbone suspension at the front and a continuous axle with leaf springs at the rear. The car had a steering mechanism with a hydraulic booster, and the brake package combined ventilated disc front and drum rear devices with ABS (although the latter was available only in the "top" configuration).

The Japanese "truck" has excellent cross-country ability, reliable design, easy control, high-torque motors, good cargo capacity, ergonomic interior and affordable service. They are contrasted with a low level of sound insulation, a large turning radius and indistinct behavior at high speeds.
